Active use (Long timeout)

Seclave normally powers itself off quickly to protect your data (see Everyday basics). When you are working with it for a while and the frequent shutdowns get in the way, you can switch on Active use, which extends the automatic-shutdown timeouts.

Turn it on from the main menu with the Long timeout item. While Active use is on, an exclamation mark is shown on the left of the screen as a reminder. The mode ends when the Seclave powers off.

Active use on: the exclamation mark on the left edge of the screen.

How long the extended timeouts are is set in Admin -> Long timeouts, with separate values for when the device is connected to a computer and when it is not; see Admin.

Note

Active use only changes how long the device waits before powering off by itself. You can still power off at any time by holding the joystick up.
